Some cars define an era, while others define history. The Dodge Viper SRT/10 GTS unquestionably falls into the latter category, an unmistakable symbol of raw, unfiltered mechanical brutality.
Under its long, sculpted bonnet lies one of the most legendary engines ever fitted to a production car: an 8.4-litre naturally aspirated V10, a Chrysler-derived block refined by SRT, producing more than 640 horsepower and 814 Nm of torque. No turbochargers, no gimmicks pure displacement and pure character. Power is delivered through a Tremec 6-speed manual gearbox, a direct steering system and unadulterated traction. The 0–100 km/h sprint takes just 3.5 seconds, and top speed exceeds 330 km/h impressive numbers, yet still insufficient to express the car’s visceral nature.
The GTS represents the Viper at its finest: a rigid aluminium chassis, revised suspension, better weight distribution, and improved aerodynamics to finally harness its fury. Its design remains timeless a never-ending bonnet with functional vents, muscular arches, the iconic double-bubble roof and slim rear lights. A silhouette instantly recognisable, inspired by endurance prototypes and the legendary Le Mans-winning Viper GTS-R.
Inside, the Viper stays true to its DNA: a low driving position, driver-focused cockpit, and simple yet functional finishes. GTS models, however, add stitched leather upholstery, Alcantara accents and a Harman Kardon sound system, bringing a touch of refinement without betraying the car’s purist spirit.
But driving a Viper is above all a physical experience. The relative absence of intrusive electronic aids, the weight of the gear lever, the thunderous V10 roar and the heat radiating from the engine remind you that this machine was born from another philosophy one of total driver control. It is an analog supercar, wild, almost untamed, a species that has now nearly disappeared.
