Description

This 1980 Porsche 911SC coupe is one of approximately 400 Weissach Coupes produced exclusively for the US market. Initially routed through Los Angeles, California, the car has recently resided in The Netherlands, where it has been the subject of a refurbishment carried out by Sportscars-Holland in Nijkerk. The car was disassembled, the body was refinished in its original Black Metallic, and the cabin was reupholstered in the Weissach scheme of Doric Grey with Burgundy accents. The 3.0-liter flat-six and the five-speed manual transaxle were rebuilt, a process that included a conversion to Dilavar lower head studs and Carrera 3.2-specification chain tensioners, and the brake and suspension systems were also overhauled. This US-market, special-edition 911SC coupe has travelled 90 miles following its overhaul, and it is now offered by the owner in Nijkerk, Netherlands, with a German-language Porsche certificate, photographs from the refurbishment, removed parts, and Dutch registration documents.
The 911SC Weissach was produced to honor Porsche’s motorsport center in Weissach, Germany, and the special edition included a whale-tail rear spoiler as standard. This example is finished in Black Metallic, one of two colors available for Weissach cars, and it was disassembled and refinished in that shade during the refurbishment. The rubber seals and gaskets were replaced during the process. The removed, US-specification bumpers and lighting are included in the sale.
The 15″ Fuchs alloy wheels wear a Platinum Metallic finish with bright lips, and Continental tires are mounted at each corner. The wheel bearings were replaced along with the brake pads, front rotors, and hoses, and a suspension overhaul included bead-blasting and clear coating the control arms as well as replacing the:
spring plates and mounts
ball joints
tie rods
front struts
Bilstein shocks were fitted out back prior to the refurbishment.
The cabin was disassembled and overhauled, and the seating surfaces were reupholstered in Weissach specification along with the door panels, steering wheel, and headliner. The carpeting was replaced, and interior details include Doric Grey leather upholstery with Burgundy piping, power windows, and a Blaupunkt Monterey SQR 23 radio.
VDO instrumentation includes a 170-mph speedometer, a tachometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The odometer was reset during the refurbishment, and the miles shown reportedly reflect the distance covered following the refurbishment.
The 3.0-liter flat-six was disassembled and rebuilt during the refurbishment. The cylinders and pistons were wear-checked, Dilavar lower head studs were installed, the cylinder heads were overhauled, and a conversion to hydraulic Carrera 3.2-specification chain tensioners was carried out. The following components were also replaced:
crankshaft bearings
rod bearings, bolts, and nuts
intermediate shaft bearings
camshaft chains
valves, seats, and guides
starter motor.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle that was rebuilt during the refurbishment, with work that included replacing the first- and second-gear synchromesh gears, the clutch disk, and the throwout bearing. The subframe was bead-blasted prior to the application of a clear coat.
The German-language Porsche Geburtsurkunde lists a production date of June 10, 1980, along with powertrain identification numbers and the factory colors.
The vehicle is being offered on its Dutch registration, which serves as the ownership document.
